Abstract
Congenital dislocation of the knee (CDK) is rare condition occurring in isolation or combination with other congenital anomalies. Authors have experienced 6 knees in 5 patients with CDK, who were treated by nonoperative means.
It is said to have been first described by Chatelaine in 1822. Since then there have been a few number of case reports and some series discussing the etiology and treatment.
Therefore we reviewes our 6 cases and their results of conservative treatment of patients with congenital dislocation of the knee using radiographs and physical examination whenever possible.
According to the degree of the joint displacement (Laurence's classification), 4 knees had grade II and 2 knees had grade III.
At an average follow-up of 32.7 months, all achieved successful stable reduction and had satisfactory range of motion of the knee joint.
In all of cases early diagnosis and losed treatment obtained a successful reduction and satisfactory stable knee motion at follow up.
